Footprint for the Future:

Trinity Unveils New Masterplan by
Renowned Architect Carl Abbott

On Sunday, April 15, 2007, approximately 110 members and friends from Church of the Trinity were present for a special service for the unveiling of our future campus. Representatives from our architect partner, Carl Abbott and Julian Norman-Webb, participated in the service and explained the master plan and model in great detail. Pictures from the presentation are available on our website.

The Architect Selection Committee has worked for the last twelve months to make this master plan and conceptual model a reality. The thirteen-member team began the process in January 2006. Letters were sent to over 20 architects in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. From that “RFP” list, we received 6 formal proposals. These six firms were invited to share their expertise with the Selection Committee. Carl Abbott’s firm was unanimously selected by the committee as Trinity’s master plan partner.

In October 2006, the congregation voted to approve the partnership with Carl Abbott and gave consent to move forward with the master plan design. Carl, Julian, and the Selection Committee have gathered many times since the vote was passed to clarify our vision for the future campus. Our vision calls for a multi-functional campus with a total of 33,382 square feet. The complex includes a sanctuary (8,860 sq. ft.), office/classroom space (15,092), and a fellowship/social hall (9,430 sq. ft.)

Our goal is to build the campus in phases, beginning with the sanctuary. We are in the process of forming a Capital Campaign committee. Our current plan is to launch the “faith-raising” Capital Campaign this fall, 2007.

Please feel free to ask our Architect Selection Committee any questions you have about the selection process, the master plan, or the building model. Our committee members are:

Rev. Dr. Mona West, Paul DiPlacido, Doug Berger (chair), Wendy LaChaunce, Hank Hueber, Ellen Covert, Carole Weissman, Jeff Weber, Sue MacQueen, David Stasney, Sue Clayton, Bob Landry, and Michael Albrecht.

If you are interested in assisting with the Capital Campaign, please let Hank Hueber know. He is chairing this committee.

We have taken a giant step forward in realizing our 2012 Vision for Church of the Trinity. With everyone’s help and God’s continued blessings, that vision will become our future.
