OUR DENOMINATION

About Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC)

Founded in 1968, Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) has been a pioneering force in civil and human rights movements, addressing issues like race, gender, sexual orientation, economics, climate justice, aging, and global human rights. MCC was the first to perform same-gender marriages and has been at the forefront of the fight for marriage equality both in the United States and across the globe.

MCC stands in solidarity with marginalized communities worldwide, particularly the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community. As people of faith, we are committed to building bridges of liberation, justice, and inclusivity, amplifying the voices of sacred defiance that challenge oppression. Leading from the margins, MCC transforms hearts, minds, and systems for a more just world.
